Plant yogurts

Tesco free from raspberry and passion fruit 4 x 100g

three stars

These were the first diary-free yogurt I ever tried (so my first yogurt of any kind) and much to my surprise, I enjoyed it. It made me want to try other brands which led me to Alpro. Tesco's own brand range is very limited but should not be ignored

Alpro strawberry with rhubarb 500g

four stars

A vegan large-pot yogurt which is smooth, any fruit having been puréed although odd strands of rhubarb are visible. Fortified with vitamins and calcium. This yogurt has a good consistency and a delicious flavour. I do not pour yogurt on cereal as it seems perverse and I prefer to eat it for its own sake

Alpro cherry 500g

five stars

A vegan large-pot yogurt which is made with cherry pieces as well as juice. Fortified with vitamins and calcium. This yogurt has a good consistency and a delicious flavour. This is my absolute favourite and the same yogurt is included in the smaller yoghurts mentioned below

Alpro raspberry-cranberry and blackberry 4 x 125g

four stars

Vegan small-pot yogurt with fruity bits, two pots of each flavour per pack. Fortified with vitamins and calcium with some bacteria included. Quite delicious. Occasional pieces of blackberry can be a little chewy

Alpro blueberry and cherry 4 x 125g

five stars

Vegan small-pot yogurt with fruity bits, two pots of each flavour per pack. Fortified with vitamins and calcium with some bacteria included. Delicious flavours with soft fruit pieces. These are my current favourites although see the review of the blackcurrant-elderflower yogurts below

Alpro strawberry-banana and peach-pear 4 x 125g

three stars

Vegan small-pot yogurt without any fruity bits, two pots of each flavour per pack. Fortified with vitamins and calcium with some bacteria included. Not my favourite flavours or combinations but I wanted to try it anyway. Better with the bits

Alpro blackcurrant-elderflower and pomegranate 4 x 125g

five stars

Vegan small-pot yogurt with and without fruity bits, two pots of each flavour per pack. Fortified with vitamins and calcium with some bacteria included. Delicious flavours with soft fruit pieces in the blackcurrant-elderflower, smooth in pomegranate. I have long been aware of the existence of these flavours but could find nowhere which stocked them. I have just had them delivered from Sainsbury's in the city and was not disappointed. The blackcurrant-elderflower is easily the best yogurt flavour I have tried and would easily be worth six stars out of five had I failed arithmetic at primary. Meanwhile, the pomegranate yogurt has a very pleasant taste but does not remind me of pomegranate even though it contains it. Admittedly, it has been some time since I ate a fresh pomegranate but it is not a flavour I would easily forget. The important thing is that the yogurt is very nice. If I could buy this selection locally, I most certainly would do so regularly
